Major drumming influences include Ginger Baker (CREAM-BLINDFAITH), Mitch Mitchell (THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE), John Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN), Neil Peart (RUSH), Simon Phillips (JEFF BECK), Artimis Pyle (LYNARD SKYNARD), Stuart Copeland (THE POLICE), Joey Kramer (AEROSMITH), Mickey Hart (GRATEFUL DEAD), Don Henley ( THE EAGLES), Bill Bruford (YES), Alan White (YES), Sean Kinney (ALICE IN CHAINS), Keith Moon (THE WHO), Dave Grohl (NIRVANA-FOO FIGHTERS), Anton Fig (Letterman / Paul Schaffer's drummer) and Richard Starkey (If I need to say it, then shame on you) among many others. I have back up harmonizing vocal ability on most songs and lead on some.
My last working band played clubs in the early to mid 80s. (Yes a hair band, and I still have the hair too!) Mostly melodic and heavy metal covers and originals. Zeppelin, Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio, Judas Priest, Dokken, Except, Scorpions, Ratt, Van Halen, Ozzy, Aerosmith, AC-DC, Michael Shanker, Queensryche, Rush, Hendrix etc. You know, all the old stuff WIYY 98 Rock in Baltimore still plays.
Current influences include Staind, Offspring, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Ben Folds, Dave Matthews, SoundGarden, Weezer, Green Day, Cracker, Foo Fighters, Nickelback, Creed, Tool, etc... Basically any and all groups with real strong song writing/crafting, imagery and imagination. Noise for the sake of noise, without substance or form is a lazy trait.
My day job as a medical courier allows me a flexible schedule. I'm very young looking in my 30's, (still carded on occasion) married to the very supportive love of my life for 15 years, no kids, two little Pom dogs. I reside in upper Montgomery County (Poolesville) and have several modes of reliable transportation. I also have practice space with no limitations on sound volume.
I'm open to become a part of a working band doing covers, originals or both. Studio work is also welcome. I have no limitations to hitting the big time if the wind blows that way. I enjoy a good time but not so much as to interfere during practice or gigs. My biggest pet peeve is people that don't do their homework I.E. learn the songs before coming to practice and wasting everyone else's time. I consider myself to be a well rounded drummer adaptable to most any and all styles of Rock (light, hard & heavy), Blues and Jazz. But it's heavy, hard hitting metal that I can do in my sleep. I'm mildly talented at collaborating and contributing to song writing (music & lyrics) and arranging. Also good at blending seamless sets with few breaks between songs.
Having put my dreams, goals and talent on the back burner for personal reasons, I'm stepping back out for lost years of fun, and fame if it's meant to be. Thanks for reading! ~Cheers~
